Poydras Home is proud to be the first Green House Project community in the state of Louisiana, adopting this cultural transformation of our care model in 2023. The Green House Project serves to destigmatize aging and humanize care.

Poydras Home is a certified I’m Still Here® Center of Excellence for 2023 through The Hearthstone Institute of Boston. The Hearthstone Institute presents I’m Still Here® certification to organizations that have completed comprehensive training in the I’m Still Here® approach by Hearthstone’s team of professionals. These organizations utilize our transformational, evidence-based training programs to create opportunities for true engagement and increased quality of life for residents living with memory challenges.

Poydras Home works with Louisiana State University School of Social Work and Southern University School of Social Work offering student internships to participants in these programs.

Poydras Home is an active member of both the national and regional Leading Age organizations. Staff members attend educational conferences offered by Leading Age and have been repeatedly awarded the regional Caring Hands award. Poydras Home served as a site visit for the Annual Meeting & Expo held in New Orleans. Poydras Home CEO Erin Kolb completed the Larry Minnix Leadership Academy through LeadingAge, a year-long leadership development program designed to enhance the leadership skills and core competencies of nonprofit leaders in the aging industry. Poydras Home and the New Orleans chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association have a long-standing relationship. Poydras Home staff has served on the local Advisory Council and both participate in and sponsor/exhibit at the Annual Memory Walk. Poydras Home has been instrumental in presenting education series and offering monthly support group meetings on our campus in conjunction with the association in an effort to educate and raise awareness of Alzheimer’s. Poydras Home owned Home Care Solutions supports the Parkinson’s Foundation offering monthly support group meetings in their Metairie office in conjunction with the foundation in an effort to educate and raise awareness of Parkinson’s. Learn more at HomeCareNewOrleans.com.

Poydras Home is an education site for the licensed practical nursing students from Delgado School of Nursing. Students receive hands-on training in caring for the geriatric population and their needs. Residents and students both enjoy the experience! Learn more at dcc.edu.
