Nursing Care at Poydras Home

Within the newest area of Poydras Home’s campus you’ll find our Custodial Nursing Services. We offer private accommodations following the Green House® Project model of care,  tailored to each individual’s needs in an idyllic setting of small homes. Our two new three-story buildings linked by a majestic glass atrium opened in the summer of 2023 serving as the entryway for six separate homes within Poydras Home, one on each floor of the new buildings. Many residents transition to Nursing Care from Assisted Living as their clinical needs grow.

Daily life

Each home shares a a living room, kitchen, dining room, and porch or balcony — surrounded by a cluster of spacious, private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. We encourage our residents to make their space their own, adding their own furnishings and favorite items to their personal spaces. They enjoy meals cooked on site in each home’s kitchen by the Care Partners of each house, served at flexible times. Poydras Home dining is designed by our Executive Chef and registered dietician with an extensive, seasonal menu cycle, with individualized therapeutic diets accommodated.

Medical care

We provide 24-hour licensed custodial nursing care with an excellent caregiver-to-resident ratio and offer additional medical support from our Medical Director and physical therapists, as well as the convenience of onsite dental and podiatry appointments. Residents who need it also have access to our specialized memory care for Alzheimer’s and dementia. All enjoy full-service housekeeping including personal laundry. Wellness programming through our Center for Healthy Living is also available and encouraged.
