An Artful Way to Give
We are very grateful for the support and dedication of the New Orleans community to Poydras Home’s annual fundraiser. We hope you will also choose to make Poydras a priority in your charitable giving. Consider a corporate or individual patron sponsorship of the Celebratory Bicentennial Gala and Juried Art Competition & Sale. Our Gala will be held on Thursday evening October 26th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. showcasing Poydras Home Art Show “winners” from the past 10 years including 12 select craft artists. The show continues on Friday, October 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. All arts and crafts are for sale. Friday’s show is open to the public.
Gala proceeds benefit the residents of Poydras Home. In addition to the donations of participating artists who donate a percentage of their sales to Poydras Home, sponsorships and Gala ticket sales are critical in helping to meet the funding goals of specific identified needs of our residents each year. This year in honor of the 200th Birthday Poydras Home is giving our residents a scenic Park, Koi Pond, Patio, Gardens and Gazebo. Proceeds from the Bicentennial Gala are dedicated to the 200th Birthday Gift.
Poydras Home will host a signature Bicentennial Gala and Juried Art Competition & Sale in lieu of our annual art show and patron party, continuing the 23 year tradition of being the ultimate experience for both serious collectors of art and the casual enthusiast. The Poydras Home Celebratory Bicentennial Gala and Juried Art Competition & Sale to be held on Thursday, October 26th will feature indoor, juried, hanging art from previous winning artists only and select, fine crafts. This special annual fundraiser during Poydras Home’s 200th year will showcase only the best of the best work of more than 33 talented winning artists from the past 10 years with a hanging, juried art exhibition in our historic main building and also selections from more than 12 fine craft artists.
This year, the Bicentennial Gala is chaired by Marion Van Horn Eagan. The 2017 Artist Chairs are Dolores Hall, Delia Hardie, Margie Scheuermann and Terry Salassi. The judge for this year’s juried exhibition is Ruthie Winston, principal owner and senior appraiser of Winston & Associates appraisals and consultants of fine arts and antiques. The show selections may consist of oils on canvas, watercolors, acrylic, mixed media paintings or original photography along with magnificent glass art, hand-built ceramic pieces by known local artists and more!
The Gala will be held Thursday evening, October 26th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. featuring musical entertainment by Deacon John. Fabulous food offerings planned for the evening include restaurant representation by Galatoire’s, Vincent’s, the Pelican Club and Creole Creamery. A specialty Poydras Home Bicentennial Birthday Cocktail from the “Cocktail Chicks” Ti Martin and Lally Brennan will be one you won’t want to miss! Gala tickets are $100 each with a young adult ticket option for party-goers aged 21 to 35 for $65 each.
The show continues on Friday, October 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. All arts and crafts are for sale. Friday’s show is open to the public.
